G2 Consulting Group was part of the construction team that earned two industry awards for its work on the Downtown Fenton Streetscape project. Downtown Fenton wanted to retain its historical charm while offering modern shopping, dining and lifestyle experiences. The city sought to improve portions of its streetscape along South Leroy Street and make significant enhancements to the downtown area, including work on the water mains, sanitary and storm sewers, roadway pavement and sidewalks that are now ADA compliant. As a result, there is an improved quality of life for residents and visitors to Fenton.
G2 was recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers Southeast Michigan with the “James F. Biskey, P.E. Quality of Life Project of the Year” in 2017. The Michigan Concrete Association recognized the team in its “Municipal Flatwork” category.

Challenges / Solutions
Working in a downtown environment requires coordinating with city officials and contractors to maximize safety and work efficiently.
G2 encountered challenging soil conditions during the road reconstruction project and worked with OHM Advisors and Eastlund Concrete Construction to ensure the City of Fenton’s geotechnical engineering requirements were met during the design phase. G2 worked closely with Champagne & Marx, general contractor, to monitor construction quality while maintaining the overall project schedule.
