G2 Services Provided
Working with Emmett Contracting, G2 Consulting Group provided special inspections / materials testing during construction including evaluation of earthwork operation and utility backfill, foundation construction, masonry evaluation, structural steel evaluation, and interior floor slab evaluation. Test methods included compaction control of fill soils, bearing capacity of supporting soils, compressive strength testing, and slump and trained air content evaluation of concrete, and mortar proportions, and grout specimen strength testing for masonry materials.
Challenges / Solutions
Challenged by upper weak fill soils with more competent clay soils deeper, G2 worked closely with the foundation contractor to ensure that foundations were supported on suitable bearing soils per the recommendations of the geotechnical report.
Smart. Results. Fast.
G2’s value engineering helped to optimize foundation construction and reduce overall construction costs.
